Welcoming BidFood to Gippsland
Food service distributor BidFood Australia is coming to Gippsland. With support from the Victorian Government, Bidfood is investing $13 million in a state of the art cold storage wholesale food distribution facility at Morwell.
Great news for employment in the Latrobe Valley, with 40 new jobs to be created for a mix of skilled technical, transport and management workers.
Investing in Mature Age Workers
Small businesses with less than 20 employees have the opportunity to participate in an important project with the Department of Education, Skills and Employment - and receive a $1000 voucher for their time.
The Department wants to work with small businesses to see if tailored approaches can increase employment opportunities for mature age workers who are over 55.
Supporting Seasonal Workers
Throughout 2021, Food & Fibre Gippsland collaborated with a range of industries across the region to highlight the diversity of roles on offer. SWISP, the Seasonal Worker Program funded by Agriculture Victoria, aims to attract a number of different cultures and nationalities to jobs in the region. To support this, a selection of the most relevant and content specific videos have been translated into five different languages.
Forestry Careers Collaboration
Collaboration is at the core of everything we do at Food & Fibre Gippsland, and with the forestry industry making up a significant part in the fibre sector, we are working closely with the Gippsland Forestry Hub on a number of initiatives and activities.
