Don’t miss Federation University’s virtual Breakfast with Fed event, ‘Food Sustainability for the Future’ on next Wednesday 29 September from 8.30-9.30am.
Federation’s research in food sustainability informs the new Bachelor of Sustainable Food Systems, which will be be launched at this informative event.
Food sustainability is the study of food security, health, safety, quality and affordability, influenced by the changing climate and environment.
With the world population expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050*, Federation University is creating new ways to help solve the problems of developing a safe, healthy and nutritious food supply for people worldwide.
There’s an exciting program of speakers from across Victoria, including ;
the Head of Federation University’s Ballarat campus, Associate Professor Sam Henson;
Dean of our School of Science, Psychology and Sport, Professor Dara Twomey;
Senior Lecturer, Microbiology and Fermentation Technology, Dr David Bean; and
Associate Professor Andrew Greenhill, Microbiology and Fermentation Technology.
Associate Professor Greenhill and Dr Bean will be joined by Nicola Pero, CEO, Food & Fibre Gippsland, who will be moderating a panel discussion featuring Acting Regional Director, Regional Development Victoria, Mr Tim McAuliffe, and final year Federation University student Elena Nautu, who is a Graduate Project Officer in Smart Specialisation for Food & Fibre Gippsland.
More speakers will be announced in the next few days.
