Victoria's Future Climate Tool

A new interactive online mapping tool is now available to help visualise the future climate projections for Victoria:  Victoria’s Future Climate Tool.

Through the tool you can choose an area of interest, select a variable, scenario and a timescale – from the relatively near-term (2030s) to the distant future (2090s).

You don’t need to be either a climate scientist or data scientist to use the data from this tool to inform your work. The tool is useful for anyone wanting to explore future climate projections.

The Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) and DELWP, Climate Change Policy (Mainstreaming and Climate Science teams) have developed guidance for Victorian Government departments and agencies on using  Victoria’s Future Climate Tool for climate risk management.

 The guidance consists of:

  • a user guide, focusing on how to use Victoria’s Future Climate Tool for enterprise risk management purposes

  • a case study of how Ambulance Victoria used the tool for stress-testing – to consider the potential impact of heatwave on their agency.

The tool is also available on the website: https://www.climatechange.vic.gov.au/victorias-changing-climate – under “Regional climate projections”.

The DELWP Climate Science team are happy to answer any questions you may have about the tool or data as well as discuss any potential projects or case studies.

To contact the Climate Science team please send an email to: climate.science@delwp.vic.gov.au
