nbn Local team in Lindenow

VegNET Gippsland recently facilitated a small round table event at The Long Paddock in Lindenow, East Gippsland with the nbn Local team to discuss connectivity and cybersecurity issues.

Alex - nbn Local Business Lead

Gippsland nbn Local Business Lead, Alex Aeschlimann, presented attendees with the options available to them around physical connectivity and also highlighted that all businesses and residents now have a lot more choice when it comes to their Retail Service Providers (RSPs).

All you have to do is plug your address into https://www.nbnco.com.au/business and you can easily search for RSPs that can give you options.

Rob Hardie – nbn’s Segment Lead Agriculture – also presented virtually, providing an overview of the potential for the nbn to support increasing adoption of agtech in horticultural and agricultural contexts.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is providing farmers with numerous automation options that have the potential to free up time and increase productivity.

Paul De Araujo – an nbn cybersecurity expert – provided an update on some online and physical security issues that have been experienced across Australia’s business sector.  Paul noted that many people ignore cybersecurity risks until an event happens to them and it’s too late.

He advised that business owners undertake cybersecurity risk analyses and ascertain what they can do to protect their operation from these ever increasing threats.

If anyone would like to be in touch with the nbn Local team directly, to raise any issues or ask questions to better understand the system, please contact Alex at gippsland@nbnco.com.au or phone: 0400 937 902
